Cancel my last. I RTFQ'd mealiejims post properly. Now got it.
After updating the firm ware I had a look through the 3-12 scope last night. It was cloudy and at 2215hrs I looked at the roof and chimney pot 90yds away.
On Day mode I got a colour image clear enough to shoot a Fox. On Night mode without any IR I could see see sharp detail in the wood fence at 25yds and would easily be able to shoot rats. Every time I use the Zulus it puts a grin on my face.
I've just installed the DNT app onto my phone and it is now a lot simpler to set up your ballistic data and get a correction.
No need to separately install Rifle Data and Cartridge Data.
The Range Slider has gone - just enter the range.
The Calculate button has gone, it now automatically calculates when you enter the range. Simples :)

Agreed, the low light image in night mode has improved significantly.
There will more and more situations when IR will simply not be required
We noticed that when trying to see and shoot rabbits in longish grass when only a part of the rabbit is visible, that putting the scope into NV mode (even though the colour image was still very usable) much increased the contrast between the rabbit and the grass - it was almost like using thermal in black hot mode :)

Cheers

Looking forward to seeing real field footage of this new scope. I’m trying to get a demo of one of possible?

Loaded the app, connection issues.
Loaded the new firmware, zero change issues, Y stays set, X moves one digit by itself every time I look.
Bore sighted the rifle this morning and needed adjusting by 16 digits. Why? Nothing has changed, scope has not been moved or banged 🤷.
I preferred the previous firmware. And app!

Smelly, you're doing something wrong. Finger problem? Bore sighting is only good to get you on a sheet of A4 at 100yds at best.
Mine has improved the image at last light but everything else works normally.

Hmmm, maybe. I'll try again later after work.
I get all the weird stuff...
Mate, is there a way to turn the WiFi off without shutting the unit down?

Well I tried again via the new app and I'm not very impressed.
I have downloaded the new firmware to my Zulus via the new app but it doesn't seem as easy as the old app.
I tried adjusting zero via phone while connected to the Zulus but it did nothing, am I supposed to switch to BT or something 🤷

Anyway the Zulus is now zeroed to different values than prior to the update. I find that very strange! Off to get some loading done now.

Early days I know but this looks strange - call me old fashioned but what is the point of an upgrade that requires you to record and reinsert your zero values and then as per Smelly’s input changes a value?
I am not touching mine for now!

All the firmware updates to date have wiped your x y values. You have to enter them again. Which is why you should record your x y readings before upgrading. I'm sure mealiejimmy has said that on here.
My upgrade went sweet as a nut. The new Ballistic Data input is a lot easier too.

This may have been covered elsewhere but with so many threads on this subject, just wanted to find out which separate Ir torch would you use for the Zulus unit.
- want it to be light as possible
- want it to be small (thin as possible)
- adjustable power
- adjustable beam control (flood/spot)
- preferable a Vcsel unit

Thanks
B

Vcsel are mostly illegal in uk for general consumer sales, not sure if the ones for sale are actually meeting the legal standards or not. However, they are great for long range, the Zulu thingies are better for short range rat type jobs, I’d imagine an LED would be more suitable

The vcsel in the arken does out to 200yds no problem so i don't see why adding more if on side is any benefit..unless mega LR at night ? and for me the plus point of zulu is ergonomics ...so why ruin that?

I can't see how an LED is better than a vcsel .myself
