This is terrible news, thoughts and prayers to the relatives.

Be careful out there guys

How sad. My thoughts go out to the family, all of the emergency services involved, and also to the other guys on Arran, and to Neil and Bob.

Has anyone heard if he has been found ok hope he has

The body of a deer stalker was found by search teams on Sunday September 30 2012 almost three days after he went missing on Arran.
Local mountain rescue units launched the hunt on Thursday,September 27,after the 43-year-old from Somerset failed to return to his hotel in Lamlash.
The search, which centred on the rugged moorland bordering the Ross Road between Lamlash and Sliddery, also featured specially trained tracker dogs and a Royal Navy helicopter.
A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said:‘The body of a 43-year-old man was recovered near the Dyemill area of Arran.
‘There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to procurator fiscal.’

My thoughts and prays to the family .
Also all those involved in the search . Having been in that area many times it couldn't have been an easy job.

Very sad and far too young to be 'checking out' at 43. A timely reminder to us all of the potential dangers we face on a daily basis.
I wonder if he was a member of this site?
MS:(

Sad day for his family , but doing something that he loved when it happened is a small blessing. Having been the stalker for Sannox Estate on Arran, at one point for 10 years, he was amongst some wonderful deer. Strange thing to say, but when it is our time , hopefully we will be doing something we all love. RIP.

Hi to all,
I would just like to say a big thankyou to all who have sent messages of support to both myself and Bob.
The response has been very humbling.
I would also like to to thank all the people involved in the search, their sheer determination and proffesionalism has to be seen to be believed, and I am sure that they were completetly fed up with me asking"any news".there were so many involved that there was not enough available accommodation on the Island and they had to bunk down in the Village halls.
When they mobilised on the Sunday morning it was likened to a UN convoy.

But once again from both myself and Bob many thanks.

I shall most definitely be making a contribution to the Arran Mountain Rescue, I shall also be writing to the teams involved thanking them for their effort.

My thoughts are with his family.

I think at this stage it would be inappropriate for me to comment any further.

regards
Griff

Good to hear from you Griff, as many have said, let us know if you and Bob need any help or support. Bubble, aka Dave and Roy

Very sad,
I was there with BASC three years ago and it did not appear so forbidding, it just shows once again how we should respect the weather and prevailing conditions wherever we are.
Just down the road from where I work near Innsbruck there was a plane crash this weekend when they were taking off in low fog/cloud and six lost their lives.
