Astigmatism workable illumination

Curious on people's first hand experience of you have an Astigmatism for a illuminated reticle that works for you at last light

I found the vortex illumination on a razor lht 3-15x42 does not flare for me and great to use

Swaro I viewed flared so not useable my eyes
Nightforce NX8 was fine in use of me and if was just a centre for alone vs multiple dots would have been prefect crossover scope to me
Delta i had was flaring too for me as a same been a great option
Minox also flare for me

I think the technology behind the illumination drives it with prism and holographic working fine

Anyone else with astigmatism found a solution with a workable centre dot reticle

I have a Leupold VX-5HD. I hadn't read about astigmatism and red dots causing an issue before and initially though there was an issue with the reticle. If I have the illumination too high I get a sort of squiggle around the dot, but if I keep it fairly low (still bright enough to be effective) the squiggle goes away. It's a little annoying, but I like the scope and would buy it again. I haven't used it lamping just at first and last light.

I've looked through, not shot a Nightforce like you, it was fine, but I didn't like the multiple illuminated dots.

My other experience of illuminated reticles is the tritium post in the military SUSAT which never caused an issue, but is not a very precise aiming mark. I've also used an ACOG which uses a fibre optic and ambient light to illuminate a red chevron and crosses, never had any trouble with that and its a nice precise marker too. I think there are some scopes with illuminated crosses, perhaps they work better.

I have an S&B PM2 and haven’t had any issue with flare, it’s spot on, but my astig is fairly minor. Am actually about to sell the PM2 so will bare this in mind, hadn’t even considered it tbh!

Cheers peeps, it is annoying as 10yrs ago was fine and now it's a right pain making some illumination useless, fine for daytime and range use but for anything stalking last light is a hinderence

Yet another compromise to consider, I could forget it and just accept I can only stalk without a centre illuminated dot but thought It was worth discussing to chase if anything out there might work

Might take a trip to swillington to see how Leica work for my eyes as not tried those and do like the look of the amplus6 range and does make a lot of sense to try first after previous failed options

Schmidt (Horus reticle too fussy), Nightforce, Swarovski, March and ZCO dots don’t flare for me.

Zeiss V8 and Holosun red dot sight flare really badly. It was the V8’s I first found issue with and thought they were defective.

Schmidt and Minox cross reticles are the best for my eyes.

But to be honest the last 2 deer shot in poor light have both been without the illumination on with the Minox ZP5. One at last knockings and the other when getting out the car and setting up as it came trotting up the field. 938g with tenabraex covers it’s no lightweight but does everything so well. I have certainly been through a few scopes to finally be happy.

Definitely try before you buy if at all possible.

I use a Schmidt and Bender that has an illuminated cross instead of a dot, and I find that workable. But, while I too had problems with Swaro's in the past, I had a look through a friends z8 and it was fine - which confused me. Some one has subsequently said, it might be because I haven't adjusted the diopta focus previously.

Sightron sIII works well for me. A bit ‘starry’ if I turn the brightness up too far, but at low to medium intensity more than sharp enough to shoot to 200m.
