I've been offered one of these hardly used for a very good price. Any opinions or experience out there?

ATN X-Sight-4K 3-14x Pro Edition Smart Day/Night HD Digital Rifle Scope with WiFi & GPS

marmite 😊 some will love them some will tell you to avoid at all cost, i have had the 5-20 on my .17 hornet for many a year and it has done all i have ever asked of it with quality laser IR. Do look at the new offerings from time to time but can see no reason to spend my money yet to replace it. Primary use rabbits and occasional fox.

What is the "very good price"?- because it might seem good to you and not to others who have experience with this scope

Cheers

That's good then, I luv Marmite.

If you can imagine a fellow club member who runs a very successful business and having more money than sense, despite being very sensible, always wanting the very newest toy available and constantly finding his toy cupboard too full for more toys and having to get rid of some of his older (nearly a month old ffs) stuff.

I just happened to mention that the nights were drawing in and I couldn't see the ratties in my garden so would have to get some NV. This fella say's "I've got an ATN X-sight you can have for £150. I'm bored with it and just bought a XXXX"

What can you do. Thus my question as I have no experience with it and wondered what people on here thought of it as a useful nightscope.

Have the 5-20 and no issues accounted for many squirrels & rabbits plus @ATNUK were fantastic when it came to it having a service, at £150 and working as it should do as mentioned worth a punt .

Used mine a lot of ratting spot on 👍

He's fetching it to the club tomorrow so will let you know how I get on. He's always flogging scopes and things. The trick is to be first in line!

Well I reckon I fell in lucky there. The receipt is still in the ,as new, box. He bought it april 2022. Used it for a week until something else came out then put it away until he sold it to me. £688.95 back then.

Then he pulled out another box- A totally unused ATN auxiliary ballistic rangefinder laser priced at £360.99. He said "this is no good to me so you may as well have it".

The mounts are weaver or picatinny and my CZ 455 is a dovetail so I've had to pay £12 for adapters. I wonder if I can claim that back off him.

I've had a play with it all but waiting for the adapters to fit it on the rifle later. I'm impressed so far but can't see me using half the gadgets or the laser rangefinder on it but may do sometime in the future. If we get an influx of fox up here I'll maybe put it on the 223.

check the firmware version installed as the latest version is a lot more stable than the early versions were.

All done last night. Compass promptly dumped to err, but a good shacking cured that! Crashed a couple of times during adjustment but seems pretty stable when used normally. I've linked it to an old Ipad which is fun. I can see what's in front of it from another room. I'm sure that's useful somehow!

Well I've had it for a few weeks now and been playing with it a lot. Getting used to it can certainly be a frustrating business, but luckily I have a lot of patience. I did a factory reset with the online firmware (very easy to do) then loaded firmware 3.1.12.510.

I put it on my CZ 455 initially and got it zeroed at 50yds, 13yards (garden ratty distance) and 25yards. I'm still not having much luck with the ballistic calculator but that might just be the short ranges involved. It's very easy to just swap profiles when you have set distances to shoot.

I had it all nicely set up and then pressed 'load from SD card' when I changed profile and promptly over-wrote all my settings. Lesson-- SAVE the profiles to SD BEFORE you try to reload them!

I found it to be constantly crashing to such an extent that I took it off the CZ and put it on my AA S410 so I wouldn't be losing my rabbit gun and the daytime sight picture really doesn't compare to a decent glass scope.

With experimenting I've found that when freshly charged to full it will crash every few minutes for around five to ten minutes before it settles down and behaves itself until the next charge, Odd to say the least.

Last night I staked out the garden trying for the elusive last member (probably) of a ratty family who moved in last week. This one was only coming out at night and being very careful having seen the rest of his family being taken out one by one. At half nine last night he availed himself of the birdseed on the lawn in the pitch darkness and promptly joined his family in ratty heaven. The night capabilities of this sight are VERY impressive.

I am becoming more impressed with this sight every time I use it and will put it back onto a 22rf for the winter for rabbiting. A friend is giving up his FAC this month and is giving me his CZ 452 which will be ideal if I can get it on ticket, if they ever renew my licence (been getting ext after ext since 4th March). I already have five 22 rimfires so will have to do some sweet talking to the FEO!

I'm not sure I would pay the £1100 quid the original owner paid for it, but for the £150 (with laser rangefinder) I reckon I have a bargain.

Happy days 😀👍🏻 . I am still using the old x`sight 5-20 and whacking fox’s out to 200m on the 222 . If it ain’t broken don’t fix it 😀👍🏻

I would suggest speaking to @ATNUK regards the crashing after fully charging then settling down sounds cyclic, they will no doubt get you to send it in for a check up. They really are on the ball with customer service and product maintenance, worth getting in contact, very friendly and helpful folk .
