Attaching files in PM's

can anyone assist
I don't seem to be able to attach file to messages when responding to PM's
but when posting this the box appears to the bottom left to attach this is not appearing when i am trying to reply in a message to PM

Many thanks for the reply and i understand the reason now i thought i was just going mad and missing something not very tech minded so will stick to email. SD s the only other online media i use
