ATV insurance issues

I have just bought a new Polaris ranger ATV. It is registered for agricultural use and is for use as deer management and forestry work. I am having issues getting insurance. The dealer said most insure as plant due to not being registered as road use. My brokers have said I need third party vehicle insurance for the times it is on the road, road use is restricted by law. If the vehicle was stolen then this would be covered on my plant insurance.
I called NFU for a quote but they were not interested as I dont use them for my insurances, which is fair enough.
I have fitted ATVtrac for extra protection if stolen.
Just wondering how others have arranged insurance

Mine is with nfu but they only Insured it as I was already with them they're high theft items most insurers run for the hills when u mention atv

In the past esp with Ur 1st insured bike was a bit of a chicken and egg situation.

U need a number plate to get insurance but needed insurance to get the number plate. Used to insure it throu it's vin number for a week or so but if paperwork never came throu insurance companies got a bit jumpy

Possibly changed now but was a pita the 1dt time, wasn't so bad when replacing a bike as u already had a insurance policy

Just a word of advice having had a lot of two wheel off road bikes which are a theft desirable;
Keep an eye on the excess as one company wanted to allocate me £1250 excess without even mentioning it 🤯

The devils 😈 in the detail as they say.

Also another outfit didn't want to cover my road bike at my home address unless it was stored in the nominated safe place 😏 which sort of sounded fair enough but..... I was a little dubious so created a few scenarios.
Coming back for a wallet etc and leaving it turned off in your drive was a grey area.
Washing it OUTSIDE the garage and going in the house for another bucket of water was another 😳
I did ask, was I supposed to wash it inside the garage then?

I queried that condition on a policy for my road bikes. If I was within 500mtrs of my home address the bike MUST be locked in the garage or would not be covered for theft! So if I was on the way home or going out, I couldn't stop at my local shop (350mtrs away) and expect to be insured if some scrote nicked the bike even if the keys were removed and steering was locked!! :mad: :mad: :rofl:
