Badly cut paw!!

He's probably not getting any training while his foot is in a sock so he will have had a weeks training instead of two?

He doesn't need to be very mobile to be trained! Being made to sit still with temptation all around him is training!

If the dog has been there for a number of weeks then i would have thought he had already received this training & it is being incorporated into the rest of his training now. Its all fine maintaining the training but a week of sit & stay doesnt seem like value for money.

Russian Sniper has said that he has spent £1000 on the dogs training so far, given that fact i am assuming that he has been there for a good few weeks otherwise that is bloody expensive for just 2 weeks.

Are you having to pay for 2 or are you getting some level of discount?
I presume you see he is having 2 weeks of training
Training a dog is not cheap, time, kennelling and food,if you can do it don't pay a professional and do it yourself or don't have a dog or shop about and try to get it cheaper, you get what you pay for generally though

Yep £1000 since we have had him. The training and kennels are £18 per day for 2 weeks. We are due to pick him up on Saturday but i'll keep the thread updated.

Cheers

The vets bill for the cut paw is £98.53 so total cost for kennels (2 weeks)and 1 weeks training is £308.53

An expensive lesson learned i think!

It's standard mate and £18 a day appears average too! Certainly that is average down South. However the most important thing is whether the training has paid off?

He will heal up just fine. I will be very surprised if you don't notice a difference, especially if you get some lessons too? None of us were born knowing how to train dogs after all!

Yep i'm not expecting miracles but it would be nice to see an improvement in him.
Have been reading up on dog training inbetween applying for jobs.

Got Max from the kennels earlier today , have attached a pic of the cut on his paw (not sure how clear it is) its very deep and the stitches have come out!
He is walking on it but is carrying the weight off it. It does look very sore.
Not had a chance to see if he has learnt anything from the training at all yet.
Looks like another trip to the vet :(

Daz

I wouldn't bother with the vet again myself. He's going to heal just fine. Just take the stitches out yourself and let it heal on it's own. Nasty cut though but that's dogs for you!

If i leave it mate it will heal as it is and he will end up with 5 toes!
It looks VERY DEEP and it is probably very near the bone.
Just hope it heals ok!

Just my two pennies worth but I think it would be back to the vet.
It does look very deep.
Has he been chewing at the stitches ?
You might be best off putting an old sock over the paw to help.

We have cleaned it and put a new dressing on it.
Will get him to the vet tomorrow.
Cheers
