So it seems Baikal recently released an updated version of the 18MH called the Baikal 121. It has a nicer stock, a picatinny rail and a threaded barrel as standard while retaining open sights. I hope these get imported into the UK.......

Yes I have seen that but i believe the .308 one is a full stock stutzen version which I am not keen on.

I don't know how much the price would go up in the UK, but if priced similar to the 18MH at around £300 new I would definitely buy one!

I may give York Guns a call next week to see if they plan to import them.

got one in 222 and it shoots well. not the lightest rifle with a scope on top.

Until sanctions get lifted nobody will be bringing in new baikals

Yep, no chance with the current Russian arms embargo I’m afraid!

I had one of the baikals in 222, had the barrel shortened to 18”, screw cut to take a DM80 moderator, stock plastikoted black ... Then spent £250 to get the trigger stripped and set up as well as it could be ... So all in all to me a £500 rifle ... If it had been the only rifle I had, I would have learned to live with it, but just couldn’t live with the trigger, just never knew when it would go off! ... However I did like the spiral barrel and break action, also found being single shot it was as very sporting.
Took £200 in PX ...

One day will sell all I have and get a merkel kipplauf in 7x57 if they do one ... And be happy for the rest of my days.

I definitely prefer the darker stocks of the older rifles. The lighter beech of the newer version is abit too light.
