Barnes 6.5 120 grain ttsx differences

Both 6.5 creedmoor factory loads....... 120 grain ttsx.....

Several differences between bullets for each load.... and c.o.a.l for each...

Barnes also use a ball powder in their load ... sako an extruded powder ...

Barnes brass was easier to manipulate to remove the bullet than the sako.....

Barnes were cheaper per box £47 I think.. swillington shooting supplies).... sako were up at £55 ( I got a discount at 50 a box)......

Barnes 120 ttsx..... sako (barnes) 120 ttsx..... nosler 120 E-tip.... side by side comparisons..... fwiw the nosler was easier to grind through and felt a tad softer...

Very interesting thread. Thank you for posting.

I personally would email Barnes although as I understand it, they are in a transition of ownership (to Sierra) so you might not get a reply.

It was more out of curiosity...... but in my eyes regarding bullet performance (expansion) I would say the sako version may perform better on smaller species..... and I know the E-tip does a good job.... but at the end of the day lead free is lead free.
The prices need to come down thats for sure!!.

If a manufacturer started loading the E-tip in factory ammo I think I would choose it over the barnes stuff.... as long as it was accurate of course..... and better still why don't they make the cavities longer and put less emphasis on exiting the animal and more emphasis on internal damage.
A larger exit wound is more use as more blood is lost from it for those who like to track.....

My thoughts anyway....

Or possibly try Raytrade (importers of VOR-TX, TTSX and TSX) via their website. I was very pleasantly pleased to get a reply within minutes on Sunday about the "differences" between VOR-TX and VOR-TX Euro. Thread here:

Did both bullets have an X stamp on the base?
I don't recall seeing an X stamped on the base of any of the Barnes bullets I've used? I've got 6.5, .35 and .416 here now and none of them do? All fairly recently purchased mind, within the last year. Perhaps they used to do it but stopped? I got my FAC in 2007 and Barnes were some of the first bullets I used in my 6.5x55, the 130gr TSX I think. I don't remember seeing an X then but could be wrong.
