BASC _ PERSONAL LETTER TO LORD DEAR.

Standard, polite, PR-scripted letter.

I think he is right about one thing, Kes. Please rejoin BASC, stand for Council, and represent SD members as your 'constituency'. I would vote for you any day of the week.

Kind regards,

Carl
But therein lies the problem Carl lets say we rejoin to “ change basc from the inside “ they simply think oh memberships up we’re doing everything right ! When clearly that’s not the case ......
I’ve said it before the one and only thing that they will take notice of is a massive drop in membership numbers , the coffers running dry is the one thing that they wouldn’t like .

Gentlemen,
Since few seem to be interested in commenting at all, my conclusions. My thanks to those who have been interested enough to respond.

  1. I am surprised and rather disappointed I didn't receive a personal response or even personally signed - how hard is it to be courteous?
  2. The response took too long and was clearly not any sort of priority.
  3. The letter from the CE is short and clearly (overall) only concerned to dispose of the matter in as courteous and personable manner as possible.
  4. I dont doubt it was drafted for him but it has a personal stamp, so maybe he changed it slightly.
  5. I dont think it presages change, otherwise why not add some detail?
  6. The number of votes I would require to become a Council member is not going to happen since I know few personally and so few vote anyway.
  7. As a member I would only reinforce a culture I currently find unsuitable to represent shooters, in the way I think they deserve and need.

I will write to the CE, since he replied and explain my view of the response and join NGO and await any sign of change, since so many are apparently satisfied with what I currently regard as inadequate. Jimbo 1984 above is correct and we are the only ones who will suffer harm, the meanwhile.

“Do I think BASC is doing a good job? Absolutely. Otherwise I wouldn’t have applied for the job. I think BASC is doing a great job. I think we are at the very forefront of doing what is right for our members and for shooting.
“I’m over the moon to be appointed to such an important and multifaceted job in the area of my lifelong passion. It’s a dream job.”

Lets hope the rest of us get to share the dream.

Kes, hope you are immune to hay fever mate, grass gets awful growth on this time of year, particularly at AGM.

Finn, its just not worth the effort is it ? - I'll just go on my merry way and trust someone else with the unenviable task of trying to obtain support to radically improve our representation.
