Actually, it did have a series of tick boxes to show forms of shooting you do (one of which was deerstalking).Have you filled the form in? I have. Not one question about rifle use.

Ok one then. Not one mention of bullets. Only shot cartridges and loads. Concern about shotguns and cost of new one.Actually, it did have a series of tick boxes to show forms of shooting you do (one of which was deerstalking).
If you mean the HSE yes I have filled it in.Have you filled the form in? I have. Not one question about rifle use.
Good question,Psephologically, what is the reason for this being on Facebook and not apparent in BASC's website?

The BASC Live newsletter on Wednesday contained a heads up on the survey, which is sent to anyone that signs up to receive it. The survey is also being shared on social media including Facebook.Good question,
Maybe @Conor O'Gorman might know?
Thanks for posting the link. Must have missed all the other surveys BASC have conducted of their members regarding the transition away from lead? The BASC Live newsletter on Wednesday contained a heads up on the survey, which is sent to anyone that signs up to receive it. There have been myriad surveys on the use of lead shot for live quarry shooting by BASC and others over the years (some long before 2020) and we have now had over 3 years of consultation on the voluntary move away from lead shot and single use plastics for shotgun cartridges for live quarry shooting in the UK. That consultation continues. And this survey is part of that continued consultation. Please click the link below to complete the survey, which closes at midday on 17 January 2024.

Clearly so, and you must have missed all the myriad threads on SD offering feedback on the voluntary transition away from lead shot for live quarry shooting.T

So it is. In fourth billing behind an article on food at a school in Taunton and one about 2 new BSA air rifles. It's not included in the quarterly communications mailed to all members? The BASC Live newsletter on Wednesday contained a heads up on the survey, which is sent to anyone that signs up to receive it. none of your business I’d say, but since you ask. Yes I Did.Did you respond to the recently closed HSE consultation on its lead ban proposals? Did you respond to the 2022 HSE consultation on its lead ban proposals? Did you respond to the 2021 HSE call for evidence on its review into 'lead in ammunition?
These forms, is someone actually going to read them?
And when they have or if they have read them, are they going to tell their gaffa he is making a mistake?
I think not.
I was watching a swan Saturday feeding on the bottom of a shallow river.
My wife said " what is it sifting for"?
She had noticed how it was rejecting all manner of material and feeling for something specific.
Oh the joys of not being a scientist and just observing with an open mind to spot the fecking obvious!
If you've volunteered to have a 5 year voluntary transition away from lead, you need to gather evidence that people are indeed transitioning. That way hopefully when the 5 years are up you can tell the powers that be that there's no need to legislate and criminalise the use of lead, most people have moved along anyway. It's not an opinion survey on whether you think it should happen or not, it's already happening.
I've now happily moved to steel, copper and very occasional bismuth for everything except my air rifle for the squirrels and it makes not a jot of difference in practice. I still can't hit high fast ducks and I never could. It has nothing to do with the Eley ESPs. And the standard power Jockers with cardboard wads are brilliant on pheasants, hares, woodcock, pigeons, I was just annoyed that I couldn't find anymore and now I'm running out. Same goes for stalking. Everything falls over and dies quite happily and the accuracy is just the same as it was before.
Well that's down to each and every one of us, isn't it? It's not BASC's fault. There is a chance to avoid legislation. If it doesn't work, it won't be a choice anymore. Up to the individuals. It's like fighting against electric cars or heat pumps. It's going to happen anyway. Up to you how you want to play it.In a perfect world, but what if the evidence is that very few have transitioned away from lead then you are up the river without a paddle and legislation is then the only option for you to achieve your agenda.
