Very true...lots of restrictions and batteries have to be below a certain state of charge to mitigate the potential fire risk (lower SOH = less energy).maybe lithium and posting is tricky?
Same materials in other sizes of batteries..maybe lithium and posting is tricky?
Only issue with lead acid is the comparative energy density is absolutely crap...hence why anything portable use Li Ion ...and poor cycle life.
Better change to lead acid batteries then won’t be as tempted to have more than absolutely necessary.
Or, less than that.

Was tongue in cheek, meaning the sheer weight of carting them around would curb people’s need for more batteries.Only issue with lead acid is the comparative energy density is absolutely crap...hence why anything portable use Li Ion ...and poor cycle life.
Lol ... It was bad enough with a 12-12 in a bag and a lampWas tongue in cheek, meaning the sheer weight of carting them around would curb people’s need for more batteries.

Ps. Don’t remind me about lamping in the late 50s and ‘60s; before small modern 12 volt Jap motorcycle batteries appeared.
That and a Morris Minor headlamp. Carrying the 12 volt battery was a rite of passage for an aspiring foxboy…Was tongue in cheek, meaning the sheer weight of carting them around would curb people’s need for more batteries.

Aye, and many a satchel (And nearby clothing!) fell apart after juice from the battery leaked out. That and a Morris Minor headlamp. Carrying the 12 volt battery was a rite of passage for an aspiring foxboy…

That brought back a long forgotten memory KB! Our 12v monster was carried in an army surplus haversack which made it just about portable from place to place; unknown to us said acid was weeping through a minor crack and when next I heaved the damned haversack up to go over my shoulder the bottom fell out of the haversack and I did a backwards flip down the hill.Aye, and many a satchel (And nearby clothing!) fell apart after juice from the battery leaked out.
Happy days.
