Hi,
Just received some batteries and this was in with them.
I wonder why that is?

Just remembered, last week in post office and they asked me to confirm there wasn’t more than 2 batteries in the parcel I was sending.
I’ve been asked many times if parcels contain batteries but never before ask to confirm not more than 2.
Once asked why they wanted to know if parcels had batteries inside and the answer was just that they keep them in a separate pile in the post office so the driver who collects their parcels each day knows which have batteries. I suppose he informs whomever he transfers them to.

😱
Better change to lead acid batteries then won’t be as tempted to have more than absolutely necessary.
Or, less than that.

Only issue with lead acid is the comparative energy density is absolutely crap...hence why anything portable use Li Ion ...and poor cycle life.

Was tongue in cheek, meaning the sheer weight of carting them around would curb people’s need for more batteries.

Ps. Don’t remind me about lamping in the late 50s and ‘60s; before small modern 12 volt Jap motorcycle batteries appeared.

Lol ... It was bad enough with a 12-12 in a bag and a lamp

That and a Morris Minor headlamp. Carrying the 12 volt battery was a rite of passage for an aspiring foxboy…

Aye, and many a satchel (And nearby clothing!) fell apart after juice from the battery leaked out.
Happy days. 😂

That brought back a long forgotten memory KB! Our 12v monster was carried in an army surplus haversack which made it just about portable from place to place; unknown to us said acid was weeping through a minor crack and when next I heaved the damned haversack up to go over my shoulder the bottom fell out of the haversack and I did a backwards flip down the hill.
Do you know how awkward a handle-less 12 volt battery is to carry? Ol Foxy does….

Apparently Sodium-ion batteries are on the way from battery manufacturing giant CATL - much safer, fairly close to same performance as Lithium.

They should be considerably less expensive too, it should be much easier to produce Sodium for their manufacture.

If they can charge same for lithium or near to it and keep mark up / profit higher .. they will

Hello, You do need to be careful with Lithium batteries, A chap i know had some in his pocket out night shooting and they caused a flash as were not in plastic cases, Lucky it was just a burnt pocket on his jacket, All my 18650s from Fogstar have been very good not the unknowns off ebay
