Bavarian Hound

I wanted to talk about the different breeds of dog that a hunter can bring to accompany him on his big game hunting days. We started using the Bavarian Hound 5 years ago here in Spain and we are delighted. They are very hard-working, obedient and calm dogs at home. They are also extremely fine in collecting pieces and blood trails, which is what a dog is most used for in big game hunting. Our dogs have collected hundreds of pieces from clients and on some occasions demonstrated a lot of bravery not typical of hounds, grabbing pieces such as chamois, roe deer, ibex or wounded mouflons until our arrival for the knife auction. They have a lot of strength and strength and for hunting in the mountains they are the best, very agile, they climb everywhere, which is really for those who were designed based on their predecessor, the Hannover Hound, which was heavier and clumsier in the mountains.

I have had 3 BMH dogs, over the past 20 plus years. I have a dog at the moment, who is totally different to the other previous dogs. This one is very vocal.

We raised these dogs in Spain, we brought them from polonia. Really at home they are like a cushion you don't even realize they are there. We also carry them a lot to collect birds and they do very well. They go into the water for the ducks, they bring the pigeons and partridges in the shootings and they catch the rabbits from the brambles. There are better dogs for this, but if what you want is a dog that is 80% your companion for hunting larger game and can handle smaller game, it is an ideal dog.

Never used any of my dogs for birds or small game. Only for blood spooring and tracking. My previous dog Todd was the best dog I have ever owned. He would take you too a stag in the woods, he hated Sika deer, after a somewhat close encounter with a wounded stag many years back that an American client had gut shot in thick commercial planting.
My current hound is now just over 3 years old, so just starting to mature. He is much stronger than any previous dogs I have had. Built like a brick sh.t house

Yes they are strong as hell! Now we are getting ready for roebuck season opening in Spain, 15 days left.
