BBC values

The BBC news has been replaced by folks with mobile phones, filming real events with a camera, & beaming it to the world within seconds. State run television should be called Staged Run Television, the dumbing down of important questions that need an answer, the cult of clueless celebrities & the lies perpetrated by those in power is mainstream chewing gum. On a positive note, the BBC world service is actually a service, listened to by most of the world. Another world service that is quite good at finding stories that we don't get to hear, is surprisingly Al Jazeera. If you combine the two, then you get a more accurate picture. Oh yeah, & I quite like Channel 4 news.

I'm no fan of the BBC but they do - every now and then - pull off an absolute blinder of a drama/documentary

They should return to entertainment, qualified opinion and factual news

Drop the social engineering and spin - get off the bandwagon of politicised science

I bitterly resent having to pay the fees for the current services they offer

A few rouge reporters and less than robust BBC Seniors of dubious morals ain’t gonna change my mind:

I would happily pay the Licence fee even were it double the current figure and for BBC Radio alone.

The BBC is far more than those afforded the privilege of running it at a given point in time.

I’m also quite capable of looking beyond their fondness for Mr. Packham!

We just need to change the name:

Great British Broadcasting Corporation

Job done!

😬

Thought you were in the popcorn camp.
Couldn't help it could you ? 🤣
Fair enough.

Pray do tell what is great about it other than the pension for employees , but of course that wouldn't affect you would it ?
Your second post doesn't quite answer methinks.
You appear to have an idealised view which is laudable but the rot set in long ago. What can you offer to suggest anything will change for the better

They should be shut down for making Diana sit there and speak at the interview, I am surprised they haven't been done for kidnapping her and torturing her to tell her story.
And overworking Gary Lineker, for his £1.5m a year, just as well he isn't in a Union as I am sure he would sue them for picking on him.
And the only thing in their favour is the nepotism they show to their favourites, whats wrong with zlist celebrities going on jaunts around the world making programmes that no one watches, it keeps them working and gives their agents a chance to earn a fee.
And don't forget it is the BBC that makes Bargain Hunt, so they can't be all that bad.
I still can't work out why the news in the evening welcomes viewers from around the world, I mean how do they know they have paid the licence fee.
