Beach Fishing on the Isle of Lewis

Off to Lewis next week and thought I would take beachcasters and a spinning rod for some fishing off the beach. Not interested in fly fishing or boat fishing as there won't be opportunities for that on this holiday, but would appreciate any advice re bait, quarry species and tackle from anyone who has experience of fishing Lewis from the beach.
