Best all terrain tyres

I have AT3s on a new V6 Ranger (I put 17” wheels on). They are great on the road and have got me through things the KO2s couldn’t with on the old shape Amarok.

Don't discount Michelin Cross Climates. Fantastic on all rosd conditions and surprisingly good off road.
You will find them much quieter and longer lasting than knobblier tyres.

Bfg are good but at a price, I'm on Goodyear wranglers on my amorok with no issues. Was getting tyres on my car other day and got price for 19in Goodyear duratrac they would be £120 plus vat 30quid cheaper than grabber which thought was good price

If davanti terratoura are available in your tyre size I would have a look..... I had them on my work hilux and the farm.lad had them on his l200.... they seem to wear very well and last ages, and are just enough for a bit off off road when needed (although much depends on the vehicles capabilities as I was always getting stuck with bfg mud terrains in the hilux) the price of davantis is very competitive.

I’ve always had bfg on my landrover but when I had a truck they can be a bit slippy on wet roads. Good tyres though but drive according to conditions not that that’s an option in my landrover which is quite slow whatever!

As much as I love it, due to labour’s BIK changes my 20 plate Amarok aventura is getting changed for a new Amarok (Ranger in wolf’s clothing) at the start of March.

As the new V6 is not quite as sporty, and will be driven accordingly, plus having nearly got stuck on a rough shoot before Christmas I’m looking at putting a set of all terrain tyres on the new one when it arrives.

I do a fair amount of miles on tarmac for work, including towing a plant trailer on occasion, plus stalking on the weekends, never any heavy off roading.

What do the good folk of SD received recommend?
I have the new ranger so same truck and I have done 70k on general grabber AT3. MPG drops by about 10%. Good on the road unlike BFG’s, not as good off road as BFG’s but close, really good in snow and actually look good if that’s a thing.

Thanks for the replies.

So, the general consensus seems to be BFGs but at a price, as it’s a company vehicle that is less of an issue. So, should I go for those?

Thing is even if you do fit BFG tyres on an Amorak you still get stuck..

Don't know what you mean 😇

Pic aside, anything would have gotten stuck in this. The water was pooling 10mm below the surface. The farmer wouldn't even take his tractor near me. We used chain and a long tow rope so he could stay on the better stuff.

Not sure what wheels you are going for on you ranger in a frock, but I've the standard 18s and there were no direct fit replacements for stock tyres. I had to go slightly up to get any AT tyres.

I'm running Kuhmo AT52 and so far, despite the above pic, I'm finding them better than the previous General Grabber AT3s. Mostly in terms of road performance. Off road is about the same.

I have Yokohama Geolander A/T on my Navara V6, work very well off road and I find them much better than the Coopers previously fitted. Reasonably quite thrashing up the motorway and fuel consumption is only marginally lower than the OEM Goodyears (which were awful of road)

Typical situation that you see Ford trucks in. All down to driver/owner mentality JH .
You guys need to consider tyre load ratings if your going to do a bit with with those 260 on the hook beasts 😀 Choose Goodrich you know it makes sense.

I've got 18" rims and am looking for a fatter/higher side walls tyre. What do you mean when you say "go up slightly"?
