hey gang,

As the title suggests.

The basic VCELS look ok for roughly £50

Don’t really want to spend more than that

I’ll just be rabbiting and ratting within 75 yards.

Do i
Need the vcel or will an LED work better within 100y?

I can tell you with first hand experience this torch will give you a crisp image and will perform more than double the distance you have quoted.
I have one and i’d still be using it if i didn’t need the extra legs foxing, its a great little torch.

Agree I have the 940 version and absolutely excellent on a Photon. Also just about to start using it on my Yukon N470s.
It's very covert a tiny red glow so v handy for wary quarry.
Trouble is with some IR is they look very bright so any fox looking at you will see a v bright glow. Not helpful.

I am currently testing a big assortment of LED and laser illuminators trying to find the best one for my N470s as whilst the on board is v good it eats batteries.

So if I was to get a 940 LED torch, consensus is that that would do me best out to 100 yards?

Sorry, it’s all very confusing. I’ve never had to buy one before as my Arken Zulus has one built in. I just turn it on and it works as part of the whole package:

Not sure, mines an 850 but i spot and range with a thermal, the only time they get chance to see a glow from the torch its too late😉

Just in, 940 nm works just dandy. Mounted mine with the latest Ludicrous Lumens picatiny mount. Allows you to get the beam alignment spot on. Once tightened up rock solid.
Anyway Vixen went down at 135 paces and the dog fox was a bit of hid and seek in-between some bushes..Excellent illumination and v happy with it. Only issue is the rechargeable battery packs are just useless but at least last longer as on board IR not needed.

I’m still non the wiser haha. What’s the lightest/smallest one I can get for £50 that will give me a crisp hassle free image under 100 yards?

I don’t know what one is inbuilt into my Zulus v1 but that’s spot on. Such a shame the hik 4k mini doesn’t have an inbuilt IR.

Can I ask why you didn't buy another zulus and decided to go for the Hik?
