binos

My Vortex Talon's arrived today, I am really pleased with them, really bright and clear, and very sharp. I had a look at 9:15 when it was pretty dark and compared them with my S&B Zenith, they compare well, I can easily see things that were not visible to the naked eye, even at 500 yards.
They feel nice and solid too and have a very comfy neck strap.
Overall very happy.

Tried my new minox tonight at last light. I was extremely impressed.

Which grade did you buy? I have the 8x43 HG - excellent but expensive, luckily I got them second hand for about £300. They're good but I've though of getting a second cheaper pair as a back-up so I'm interested in what's what.

A good place to get second hand bins is on birdforum classified adds. just google it, you have to register to view the adds but theres always a few good pairs of bins. Trustworthy people so no scammers to worry about.

I was out on my permission last night, just having a look to see what was around, the Vortex bins were excellent, I actually saw the place in a different light. At one point I was looking at some distant trees on a hill top, I was confused as I had never seen them before, then I realised they were in Fife! the other side of the Firth of Forth. The magnification is actually less than the old 10x I was using before but the image is so much sharper that you see much more....
