Bipods and tripods

Evening all.

Two questions on kit if you use them.

1- I've had the same harris bipod for the last 15 years. I think they are great, firm and steady. Thinking about getting a javlin bipod. Ignor cost and weight etc.
Question is are the javlin bipods as good as the harris in terms of being firm and steady?

2- I have a hogsaddle on a tripod for sitting out foxing. Had it many years. Very good and rock solid. Thinking of switiching over to the whole javlin system. My question is the davos magnetic pointy finger looking thing as steady as the hogsaddle? See pictures.

The Davos system (pointy finger looking thing) appears to be a universal system for both bipods, tripods and even there stalking quad sticks.

Many thanks

Very nice setup.... 👍

I like Javlin for one reason only, it pops on and off. I find a bipod useful less than 1% of the time and 100% in the way.

Javlin is steady but a little fiddly and if your kind of shooting finds you using it all the time, stick to the Harris.

If you get the Javelin Pro Hunt so the legs lock open then it's very solid. The current adapters allow you to connect the bipod to allow panning or rotate the bipod 180⁰ and it'll lock it solid.

I've used a very heavy Tikka Tac A1 on the sentinel tripod and it'll hold it solidly even with the adapter quite far forward. For best results if you want the rifle hands free on the tripod then mounting the adapter (or a second adapter) further back nearer a natural balance point is a good idea.

I had a Harris bipod when I first started shooting as it was the go to option at the time. Now I can't think of anything worse. Even the cheap MDT or Magpul offerings are so much better if you want a big bipod attached all the time. The Spartan system is pricey but it does exactly what it is supposed to.
