As someone who has been using a three legged stick for thirty years, I always found speed of set up plus the lack/limited amount of lateral tracking possible with quad sticks to be a greater disadvantage than the potential loss in total accuracy of the home made tripod I've used; the Jakele sticks went some way to address the tracking aspect, but at a fair weight penalty; time will tell, of course, but Blaser may have stolen a march on the competition with this design, as the lateral tracking aspect seems to be pretty much covered in their system.
