Hi
I'm thinking have my blaser in a calibre that blaser don't sell a factory barrel for so was going to have barrel stub 're barrel job done

I know that
Brock and norris do them so do
Paddy Dane
Michael rainback

Does anyone know anyone else offering this service too? Also have experience having there rifle done by someone? or any of the above done there blaser r8 for them?

Any thoughts other suggestions who to use be great to hear
Thanks

Yes I have just had one done in .308
I specified the Blaser stub as is with the little slots for the Blaser 'scope mounting system but he also does them with the rail, a much cheaper option of mounting the 'scope.
James of JagerSa has done mine with a top quality, 20" semi weight barrel and much cheaper than others have quoted too.

I am now getting it Ceracoated and a muzzle brake made for it, when it's finished completely I'll use it a few times and then post a picture of the completed thing.
This one has a semi weight 20" Madco barrel and am happy with that as I had one of them before in 26" ;-)
Quite a few of the other 'Smiths' quoted £1k+ but they wanted to use 'super dooper' barrels whereas there are some others available such as Bergarra which they all classed as Carp. My Remmy .222 was re barrelled with a Bergara barrel and is still going strong, so no problems there.

I had a 7x64 done with a bergarra a few year back excellent barrel on a sako
That can't be true as all the very well recommended and almost famous guys that do work on rifles mentioned on this site say that they wouldn't have a Bergara barrel in their workshop because they are cheap rubbish !!
I took a chance with my .222 and have been happy with the results when using it so far.

I have two Bergara barrelled rifles (7WSM and 7-08). WSM has done a fair bit and still shoots much better than I can!.

Don't know about import/export restrictions, but this Austrian gunmaker has a pretty good reputation in making accurate Blaser barrels over here:

Inspite of me not being a big Blaser fan, I really like the look of that rifle! Did you introduce it somewhere in that forum, incl. some more pictures?

Yes I see bix n Andy looks like he does some nice blaser barrels but did want to try and keep it Uk based if possible but they might have more manners and actually want to talk you on the phone unlike the other UK blaser barrel people seems like they don't want more business money or want to give You the time of the day from more than one barrel being done

Not posted any pictures of it anywhere else, it is not finished. I am now going to get it Ceracoated and a muzzle brake made for it.
When it is finished I'll put some pictures up then.

I've not had a Blaser stub done by James at JagerSA but I do have one of his rifles. Top job, can't fault it. We've chatted about his barrel stubs for a while now and they look good. He's a nice, no BS kind of guy. I was so pleased with the last rifle he did for me that I'm having him make another as we speak. Not only is his work good but we get on well, and that's important to me.

I wanted him to build me a blaser barrel but hasn't worked out that way oh well sure someone else be happy to take my money for 2 maybe 3 barrels I wanted doing on blaser

That can't be true :-) ask any of the other rifle smiths on here ;-)

Did you read this?

You obviously didn't give him enough information. For 2 or 3 barrels he could save you quite a packet.

Lots of Smiths do them and all good work, the only thing that varies is the price.

I had it done 2014-2016 (yep took a while) to get an R8 in .20TAC
(.204 wasn't a factory chambering when I started the project).
When complete it was just too heavy, so I PX'd it for a .204 Sako 75.
As far as I know the barrel is still for sale at McAvoy's in Standish.
Talk to Tim (Mr. McAvoy himself). Pretty sure £500-ish will seal the deal.
