Blood test

Can the vets on here, tell me how much( approx ) it is to run a blood test for allergies on a terrier .( Infamed paws and ears , that's reoccurring , constant luck of paws and scratching the ear )

Had an " estimate " of £456 of our vet

Are they trying to pull my pants down ???

Sorry, but that sounds par to me for a full range of panels that would include tests for parasite allergens, outdoor allergens (pollens), indoor allergens, and a few weird ones.

Almost certainly it will be positive for fleas and house dust mite.

I hate this type of post (but glad you’ve had a positive response from buchan).
Perhaps I’m lucky, but I trust my vets implicitly, I know the practice owner as a personal friend, and if they say xyz I listen to them without question. They don’t sugar the pill when the truth needs to be said, and I respect them for it.
I have seen first hand the culture of “how much is he/she insured for” and miraculously a bill for the exact figure appears and somehow the dogs treatment fitted perfectly into that timeframe (this is with referrals not our actual vet) but never with our own vets.
I value the trust in that relationship and it saddens me others feel the need to question, I would never want to feel that our dogs care was dictated by financial gain.
(This is not a dig @Kjf just an acknowledgement of how lucky/privileged I feel, and I wish you were able to have the same trust).

It's a fair question. I tend to feel the same for a quote from electrician/plumbing/boiler/car service!

I agree mate , I've tried to be shafted before off the last vets ....... , 500 quid for a paw stiitch up job of 5 stitches , they wanted £40 for checking on the wound a week later!!!!!! After I'd paid £500 out for he work , to be told the stitches had failed and t will cost me another £500!!!!!!, I told them to stick it



I did the job with animal super glue for £12 !!!!!!!!

Hence the question , and the invoice from new vet said estimated . Now it either is £400 odd quid or it isn't !!!!!

What you have been quoted is probably right .What you need to be careful on is the follow up action .That’s where the hidden costs will be .
If they recommend an action ,look on Google before buying products from them as markup is crazy .
