Bravecto Cost

What are you paying for Bravecto now? My vet is asking £55.49 per dose for a 20 kg Springer, times four doses a year seems a bit toppish or is this the going rate?

I bite the bullet- pay for the prescription from the vet (£30 odd) and then buy a job lot online - enough to last me 18 months for my three spaniels - I just couldn’t justify the vet charging me near £150 every three months 🤨

I use Simparica and for the same reason get a years prescription from the vet then buy it on line. Even with cost of prescription it’s cheaper than from vet

It has got more pricey definitely. I called to the local vet a couple of weeks ago. A tablet for a large dog was €50. On his recommendation some years ago I split that in 1/2 and give each 1/2 to both of my springers. It works . I find it lasts 4-5 months before they start picking up ticks again.

I also tend to treat them in February/ March and then through the summer….into the autumn, it seems the ticks are far less prevalent in the shooting season - so 9 months cover is enough round here ( but the sheep go in and the nearest deer are ten miles away)

So prescription ….?

Jist go in ask vet for prescription for bravecto for X size of dog ?

Do any vets refuse ?

I’ll do that masel if it’s cheaper

Nothing from a vet is “cheap “

Buy prescription from vet, make sure that it's multiple use, my vet's is for six times. Also biggest strength for mastiff weight dog, half for my labradors. Not cheap but certainly cheaper.

Our vet runs a plan with insurance. I pay about £25 a month. This give all the vaccinations, bravecto and worms once a quarter and six monthly check up. It also insures me to cover costs of any veterinary treatment including surgery.

Interestingly, given that my hound is a cross breed, price is £25. If she was a pure bred it would be over £40 a month.

wait until they are older... when my lab hit 7 price almost doubled to 80 a month and had to pay a % of bill! ... had 3 dogs and said stuff it, i will put 100 a month away until i have 2500 saved for an emergency...... it did not cover jabs wormers etc. so haven't had to use it in the last 5 years!

my hound is now 8, no increase other than inflation. I took it out when she was a pup and its for life.

We also use a plan - likely similar to Heym's. We have had four dogs on it for several years (funnily enough, the plan is run by Denplan...) Now we're down to three dogs (two labs and a springer) and we pay about £50+ a month. That covers Bravecto every three months, and wormers every three months. They also get their annual boosters within the plan, plus a free vet check every six months. We only pay for annual kennel cough, plus we get 10% off any surgery costs. It's worked well so far, and no changes as the dogs got older. Wish I could say the same for BUPA.....
