Brewdog

To add, it's not just Brewdog buying up the country, the land market has gone crazy with businesses big and small buying land so that "greenwash" their carbon emissions.

Very smart in terms of their marketing and fundraising but looks like big money is starting to talk with them.

I do wonder if their goal isn't to get big enough so they get bought out for market share rather than stick around

And Deeside and SixDegreesNorth, neither of which abuse their employees as far as I know. I know the owner of the latter and some of the folk who work for him - he's a decent and very hard-working person.
Yes I know six degreesnorth and it was one of my go to pale ales last summer until the local shop stopped stocking it, good beer!!

Black Isle is awesome. I've met the owner when stalking at Blair Atholl, decent chap.
Yes he is an entertaining character!! Has very good pointers. I was reading an article in a magazine and there was a photo of someone in Europe shooting chamois in deep snow dressed in tweeds. I knew exactly who it was 😂😂

Oh yes, right you are!
I just did a bit of interweb searching……
The brew dog brand seems to give the impression that they are a wee microbrewery sticking two fingers up at the big corporations….turns out they sold 22% of the company for £213,000,000 in 2017.
What a bunch of bullshitters 🤣
And still feel the need to crowd fund to buy an estate

More bad news for the owners of Brewdog.

It’s very strange that all of this negative publicity is coming out at the same time, just before the company tries to go towards floatation . It is almost as though someone wants the floatation to fail and is now releasing news that they have been sitting on for months.... whatever, none of this shows James watt in a positive way and given the antics of the company, he’ll mend them.

I do like some of their beers, but agree the guys who run it seem pretty unpleasant.

Workplace bullying is one of the worst things to happen to people during the course of their careers and it can have a long term and negative impact on peoples careers and confidence.

As someone else mentioned, the owners probably want to float the company, sell their shares and jump ship at their convenience.

**** 'em, hope they go bust.

My only worry would be for their employees (brewery and bar staff).

BASC Scotland’s Ross Ewing has been writing in The Press and Journal about the historical significance of the move - branding it a “staggering display of insensitivity”.
  • “The prospect of clearances wilfully taking place under a new guise – despite their historical significance and the suffering they caused – is a disgrace. How is it we have not learned from the lessons of the past?
  • “Whether it be gamekeepers, farmers, gardeners or domestic staff, we ought to stand up and reject the ostracisation of rural folk in the name of green agendas. We should seek to include and collaborate; not expel and dismiss. Failure to do so risks a new age of clearance with a distinctively green tinge that could decimate rural communities across Scotland.”

I’m not sure why anyone is surprised. They’ve had a nasty smell about them from the very beginning.

I was friends with an independent booze shop owner in around 2010 when they first made a name for themselves, and even then there was an awareness that they were dangerous to deal with.

Quite apart from that, the beer is close to undrinkable. I don’t really understand how it became the apparent benchmark for ‘craft’ ale. It’s horribly astringent and absurdly over hopped - like drinking washing up liquid. It distorted the entire market for a decade, with vast numbers of copy cats all aiming for ‘massive hops’, at the expense of all flavour and drinkability.

I look forward to their demise…

I agree. Their marketing and crowdfunding always struck me as spurious, although there's nothing wrong with parting a fool from their money.
Many of their beers are ridiculous, a couple quite nice, and some have weird artificial tasting flavours. The principal individuals obviously class A wan.kers.

I used to buy various Brewdog IPA’s for the Husnand.... But when I found out about this at the weekend, no more... Very disappointing....

Tried a few, nasty shjite..there’s proper beer out there already, no need to hipsterize something already perfected

The only thing people who drink Brew Dog like more than drinking it is telling people they drink it. It's a product (very well) marketed at people with zero imagination or substance that want to be seen as trendy.
