A group of us go in 2 weeks time and unfortunately we won’t be taking any firearms with us as it’s been such a ball ache trying to get the flights and destinations to align.We thought we had it cracked flying from Gatwick to Ljubljana then cross over to Croatia.All of this came about when KLM started contracting flights to other airlines then not giving them the go ahead to carry firearms.
I thought that I would update this so as to assist any one else travelling as it was very straightforward in the end.
I flew from Heathrow and the arrangements were the same as usual when leaving the country and you only need your FAC.
Upon arrival in Zagreb airport. I went through customs and mentioned to the customs police officer that I was hunting. He told me to go and collect my luggage including my firearm (which came out on the same carousel) and come back up to the customs area. They then checked the serial number of the rifle as usual.
I had to show the following:
Letter of invitation
Hunting Card For Foreigner
My Uk FAC
They then issued a issued a letter of approval for bringing hunting or sporting weapons and ammunition into the Republic of Croatia at a cost of 9 euro 26 cents.
That was it. No fuss at all.

They haven’t changed then in attitude or cost. Unfortunately with Croatian airways not taking firearms and KLM being all at sea it’s going to be one of the few routes for if you want to take your own rifle.
The transportation of firearms to and from London Heathrow (LHR), Aberdeen (ABZ), Edinburgh (EDI), Inverness (INV) and Glasgow (GLA) is forbidden.
so manchester is ok it seems on lufthansa flights
