Hello there

I am just wondering if anyone has successfully shortened the barrel of a brno .22 lr ?
The barrel length I have is around 24" so when mod is in it is a nightmare to operate from a vehicle, It would be ideal if it was possible to cut it down to around 14"

Any pics/advice would be great..

Cheers

I had mine chopped to 16", after which it wouldn't shoot, and I scrapped it. I think I got unlucky, plus it was fairly high mileage. A friend did some online research and said something about concentricity in the bore.
It could be that another inch off would have cured the issue, but it wasn't worth the additional cost.

My CZ is cut down to 13", it shoots very well and is far more convenient to use.
There must be thousands of CZ and Brno .22 rifles throughout the country that have had their barrels docked, and provided that it is done right it shouldn't have affected their accuracy. Where there has been a loss of accuracy it is often due to the person cutting the barrel not doing a proper job. It's almost impossible to actually wear out the barrels on these old war horses.

I have 2, one standard length and 1 chopped at 15 inches.
The is no difference in performance apart from one feels like a brown Bess in the handling department compared to the other.

Thanks guys, 13" would be ideal ! It is a very accurate rifle so hopefully that won't change and it will definitely get more use as a truck gun!
I had my cz452 .17hmr cut down to 15” from 22:1/2”, best thing I did with it. Same accuracy and much better truck gun. I also have an anschutz .22 with a 13:1/2” barrel and it’s as accurate as I can shoot it out to over 100 yards.

Thanks everyone for your replies and pics! Il defo be going down the short barrel route.. Will give it a new lease of life I'm sure :)

My mod 2 has a 12.5 inch barrel, I bought it with it already shortened. Very accurate with eley subs.

One thing with mine is I only have plastic mags, which don't really 'lock' in, but friction fit. Do any mod 2 owners have issues with plastic mags. I'm trying to identify if it's the type of magazine or the catch on the rifle.

I had a plastic mag that came with a CZ. It worked fine and locked in on the Bruno mod 2, CZ 452 and the CZ 455.
I did have a problem with the CZ 452 with accuracy and it was who ever screwed the end for a suppressor. A slight adjustment to add a proper shoulder and tidy the crown and no issues after.
