Broken trigger pin?

Deep clean of my Sako 85S as it got wet and the rugby was depressing. Reassemble last night and found this on the paper that lay underneath the action. The shiny end is smooth the dirty end feels like a broken edge. Bolt and trigger work. I can’t find this on any exploded diagrams

My first guess would be the bolt release catch pin has fallen out of the action, but I guess you’d realise that quite quickly if you’ve been cycling the bolt?

If it was me I’d strip the rifle back down & look to see if there was anywhere obvious that pin could have come from. The fact that you say one feels like it has a broken edge suggests that you might find the other half of a broken pin still in situ somewhere.

Thanks, I’ll be having a better look shortly

If bolt stop the remaining part of the pin may be still in the action securing the bolt stop

It needs removing with “gravity” - or a sharp tap - if it’s not loose

Better picture. I was thinking it wasn’t sheared as it’s not a bright wound, then saw Ronin’s post!

Ejector kicker retaining pin

Temporary spare can be made from same diameter drill (which will rust ) or stainless steel rod if you can find that diameter

Needs to be a close fit as the kicker works hard and suffers shock with the case being pulled back against it

Or buy ejector kit from GMK

There are two tiny springs in pockets in the kicker - they rust and deteriorate with age

For the price of the kit it’s worth replacing all as “routine maintainence” especially if the retaining pin has sheared

Any thoughts on removing the broken bit - couldn't have broken at a worse place! I've cleaned (clutch cleaner) to see if it will just fall through, but the holes are not aligning. I can wiggle it so far with a scalpel, but not enough.

It’s a case of shocking it against a soft sand bag or similar Ian

You can use a smaller diameter pin and superglue (tiny amount-the type with activator spray) and remove carefully

Whilst manipulating the ejector to align the holes

Clearly the pin is broke - despite comment to the contrary
