Cabinet heater

I keep all my guns at 50f in the cupboard and when in the stalking field this is done following the purchase of a electric motor cycle suit which has been customised to fit around the rifle with the exception of the scope.
This has mean,t that my rifles are always perfectly bedded, and I never shoot above 1moa what ever the conditions.

your woodwork will crack as will it when using Silica gel bags.

Really, 35 years of doing this says your wrong.
Always at least 3 or 4 silica bags in the safe, as well as a couple of VP90 sachets.
No corrosion, no cracked woodwork.

Neil. :)

I've recently moved house and.put a new 10 gun safe in the loft. I was starting to get very slight condensation on the outside of the cabinet and worried about damp getting in but no rust up to yet. I went and purchased a vp90 sachet thinking it will protect the guns, damn I was wrong! I put it in the safe stuck to the back away from the actions and barrels. 1 week later I went to get a rife out and every one, bar the stainless and shotguns had surface rust. Luckily I caught it in time to where it just wiped off with a bit of legia spray and elbow grease. Since then I have removed the sachet and keep the guns doused in legia spray and I have no problems. I have however increased the ventilation In the loft and bought a condensation trap from b and q for £10, works a treat sat in the corner of the loft. I would never buy or recommend those vp90 sachets to anyone!
