Caping Knife Developments

Well I am not Caping this one ! However I have been out spending some time on Field testing The NEW caping knives . I have to say while anyone might once or twice require to cape a beast for the Taxidermist. This Knife is exceeding my own expectations - Being straight i have only used it on Gralloching Muntjac and Roe so far but its stopping in my chest pack for sure and no mistaking . Will certainly be giving a wiz on the Hind Cull to stretch it to the max. To satisfy all clients ( once i reduce the back order situation ) Will be building some deluxe versions with Fancy handles and leather and mirror polish blades , obviously more costly than these first few

The Caping Knife . Will be on a special deal price on our stand the Stalking show , various colours. Myself and a few select stalking mates of mine have been testing and perfecting these knives for a full year now .
Although its named "the Caping knife" I don't expect that will really be this knifes most common task , in testing i personally didn't get a suitable Trophy to mount - But I still caped a few ( and then stuck them in the cape in the bin), not a one was taken to the Taxidermist but the task was fast and a lot easier and neater to carry out than using than the larger models of stalking knives ! Every day cull beasts made up the number and a lot of rabbits etc.
An Ideal knife with Kydex sheath , G10 handle , SF100 stainless blade steel , Crio treatment with finished hardness test 61-62
These knives are now on a special deal for those who purchase in the the run up to the stalking show and then collect during the show itself at just £95 Of course your saving a lump straight off without the knife post

Another year gone by and the Caping knives are doing really well for folks . I have just added a best quality leather belt sheath options i would like to show you all . Its very comfortable as a std belt carry even in the confines of an Argo , Truck , ATV or just plain sitting in a high seat ( an issue sometimes i find ) . I have also taken the harness just a little tad harder to 62-63 range with the Crio treatment
The leather does add a reasonable extra cost due mainly to me only working with high grade real thick leather have a look at the welt in the pictures of the latest . I have seen injuries from knives poking through skinny leather before
My next move is adding some high end premium handles on a few with the leather .
I have some level of stock with the Kydex neck carry Caping knives and these i have these on an offer of just £85 plus post . 20250519_124718.webp20250519_124849.webp20250519_124810.webp

I bought one of these Caping knives at the stalking show. Very happy with it. It lives in its kydex sheath in the long tool pocket of Fjallraven trousers. And you just forget its there. I like the fact is a short blade which I think is less than three inches (I must measure it) so no issues with forgetting it’s there.

There is however one big downside. Over the last few stalks I haven’t yet been able to use it. Clearly this has everything to do with knife sneakingly hiding in my pocket, and nowt to do with my inability (and the hounds) inability to move quietly across the ultra dry bracken, leaves and grass under foot, nor the light swirling winds, nor that the beasts all seem to be over the boundary fence. I have had a couple of opportunities that I haven’t taken - beasts too good to take - really an excuse for its getting late, and I am mile away and few hundred feet below where my car is and extraction will be on foot. :)

I am looking forward to caping out a gold medal buck before too long.
