Carcass Selling

There are other examples of a carcass going to a game dealer which are not cleaned out with Hares being one of them.
An estate/farm will trim up a good number then put them in the chiller to take the next day.

I have seen 60/70 in a keepers pick up at a Game Dealers being unloaded.

Also on a big estate with a number of high seats and a few people in them for a set time say AM 6-9 then they are picked up also with the deer.
I can remember, about 30 years ago, when we used to shoot hundreds of rabbits, the game dealer didn't want them gutted. They went into a cool room (non chilled) for a day or so, then the dealer picked them up in his non chilled transit, they they got shipped to France!
I dread to think what state they were in by the time they got there.

I believe you can take a gralloched carcass with the pluck in a bag for them to check ( pretty sure they was mentioned on my dsc1). Not sure most game dealers would welcome that though
Indeed this used to be the case but all the Gamedealers I know want a copy of your trained hunter status before they will accept a carcass from you.

True there was a time when rabbits going to the Continent were not to.be gutted but those that were to be sold on the home market were.

Hares are traditionally not cleaned the reason being that by cleaning you would lose the blood which is used to.make hare soup amongst other things I shudder to to think what it.would be like after a few days never mind weeks

Well my friend, we have a large game dealer down here who is taking them off local worthies with not a piece of paper to their name. They get their cheque when the Vet has checked the carcase.
