Career change

Get a job with DVLA. The work must be tedious beyond belief. However, you won't ever have to do any, nor go to work, so you can spend your days doing whatever you like. Good job security, excellent pension and while the pay might not be high, it's a **** sight more than deserved for the work done. Any sign of trouble, just go on long term sick leave owing to stress for a year or so, then re-evaluate.
 
The grass isn’t always greener.

Know of many keeper this year where the shoot owner didn’t want to risk the massive expenditure with the lack of birds, so didn’t pay the rent, and sacked all the keepers on the spot.

One of them is back driving a digger now.
 
I was an engineer until my mid 20's, then ditched that to work in arb/forestry like I had originally wanted, eventually ended up running my own Ltd company and now embarking on a career as an instructor/assessor in forestry skills. There's options out there for anyone wanting to work outdoors but worth doing your homework to find what is viable

I really do appreciate all the advice given! I have had a look around in some areas that you guys have suggested (some areas that I would never even thought of before)! And found a few opportunities that I think I’m going to apply too and see what happens!
It’s great to get so many different bits of experience, really does remind you have vast the opportunities can be out there!
