And any reason he shouldn't?Mate of mine now departed did BR. He had all the kit.
I'm good over the distance I shoot.
Next you'll be getting a tight throat barrel and neck turning every case.

Wow thought I was helping. The less people understand something, the more complex they need to make it...
Nope.And any reason he shouldn't?
Not criticising.Wow thought I was helping.
Aye, important I guess. For shooting mice at extended ranges I guess. Not necessarily "bench rest", but striving to achieve lowest variance and most consistent ammunition.
No offence intended - just an observation, and my opinion.Wow thought I was helping.
Exactly. You enjoy taking a muzzle loader out to the squirrels, other folk want to hit small targets off in the distance. We all need to stick together, and as I've pointed out recently, it seems we have those self righteous and selfish types in our midst that can't see the folly of putting the boot into areas of shooting they don't appreciate.Aye, important I guess. What ever make you or anyone else happy.

It's about minimising variance. Not a lot of difference at stalking distance, and indeed you'd be kinda overthinking things. But out at 1000 yds you're going to appreciate the effects of having as little variance in MV as possible. So err how much does it shrink groups size?
Genuine question.
1967 Spud. Cap screws off to change Mandrels.
Ken.
Ps. I set the neck tension at 0.002.

So have you tested it or is it just a hypothetical exercise? It's about minimising variance. Not a lot of difference at stalking distance, and indeed you'd be kinda overthinking things. But out at 1000 yds you're going to appreciate the effects of having as little variance in MV as possible.
I have. It does provide much better ES's. Is it really needed at normal hunting ranges? No, not really. But for long range, it definitely shrinks vertical dispersion. So have you tested it or is it just a hypothetical exercise?

Ironically, today is Muir's first official day of retirement.Sure.
Never really fussed that much when I used to shoot long range.
I did though manage to get the 308 hot enough to stay supersonic at 1200.
That helped. What with the wind changes and the err bullet climb or dipping agin the wind thingy.
I just squirt the odd one now and then for ***** n giggles.
Best wishes. Heard from Muir?
Yes, I have seen the difference that employing this type of case prep makes. If I could drag myself to cleaning them properly I might see some minor improvement in ES too. But not anywhere near the difference that this, in conjunction with regular annealing makes. So have you tested it or is it just a hypothetical exercise?
