Central Heating

Need a bit of help here so.........
Does anyone have any experience with, or knowledge of, central heating manifold installations (normally used with underfloor heating) but with wall hung radiators.
I'm thinking of modernising my current, ordinary, system to something that I can use wireless t/stats with and I've got a few questions.
I'd like to do it myself, as my experience of plumbers around here is somewhat less than favourable (watch '2001: A Space Odyssey - The Dawn of Man' from 6 minutes in to get some idea).
Many thanks

Underfloor heating manifold is unlikely to work unfortunately due to having a Thermostatic mixing valve controlling the heating flow temperature. Dependant on the size and type of system, whether traditional with a cylinder or Combi the foolproof method would be to split the floor levels into zones with a multi channel programmer and rf thermostats. you can then fit individual TRV’S to each radiator. Not really a diy job however and you will need a good sparks also. Photo from a few years ago to give you an idea of the layout. 23 radiators on 3 floors.

I have done this a number of times. Don’t use the mixing valve set and then use the actuators and room stats to control each room individually.

Hi.
If you want to use a manifold set up you will need a flow and return to each rad and a room stat in each room.
Much easier to use wireless valves and room stats for each room or create zones.
Phil.

Many thanks for the response guys.
I am looking at the Emetti Topway 2 set-up, without a mixing valve, and your answers seem to confirm my idea of creating two zones (downstairs & upstairs) with seperate wiring centres for each, wireless t/stats in each room, electrothermic heads and flow meters for balancing. This would do away with the need for TRV's & lockshields.
My biggest problem is finding a supplier of Emetti kit within 50 miles of me, that can also offer a little bit of advice.
Are there any other makes on the market that offer similar sorts of equipment?
