Well written and with really good images.
Money well spent.
I think it does us all good to see different approaches, and understand different thinking on various techniques, methods, etc. I know I've certainly learned a load from seeing other guys methods, and I hope, in my own small way, I've helped others by sharing how I approach certain tasks. It's all grist to our mill at the end of the day, and it's only by sharing experience and knowledge we all get to learn and expand our skills. As I'm fond of saying 'There's 20 year's of experience on one hand, and on the other there's one year's experience repeated 20 times'if anyone is interested to see how I view things from a somewhat different angle. If this starts some debates on here it’s all good, airing differing views publicly so all can benefit. Some might even be polite exchanges!
The Crowood website is now back up and running.I tried both the link and the website direct and no joy of either loading.
I did look on Amazon and £16.01 with free postage there.
Hi Blaser,I will be ordering a copy. As a registered food business, long time stalker/manager and foodie, I don't think we can do enough to improve the quality of our produce. I've previously been a devotee of Wilson's Practical Meat Inspection, but will be interested to see a work specifically focussing on deer.
Great book Larry. Enjoying my copyA heartfelt thank you to all who ordered the book.
The publisher emailed today to say over 250 sold in 2 months, they are very happy. It’s not had any press elsewhere as yet (due to lead times), so sales seem to be from SD alone.
Writing about hygienic carcass recovery, sticking, evisceration, registering as a food business and larder antics isn’t the most exciting premise for a best seller, so not in the JK Rowling league just yet. But most pleasing of all were the PMs I’ve had, some very nice people out there in stalking land from novices to deer managers - who knew?
I’ve been conversing with stalkers from all over the UK and had some interesting WhatsApp content….
Here’s looking forward to the opening of the fallow buck season on Sunday, I’m hoping to get some nice young venison in the freezer for my landowners later in the year. The crops are being cut a little later this year after 2 years of dry weather so it looks like I may be out mid August, as organics are a touch behind conventional crops.
Best
Larry
