Cereals in dog food

I previously posted threads asking for advice on my bitch having bad breath and skin shedding.

It was put down to cereals in dog food, we switched to a brand called Canagan. The change in her is somewhat else breath is now normal or normal for what a dogs is suppose to be and her skin flake free. People are now commenting on the change they see in her, better looking coat and her physique and her structure to her body is so much more stronger to the eye and feel.

It ain't cheap but reading what goes in it and the change we see in her I would recommend it to those out there.

When googleing cereals in dog food it was shocking peoples verdict on cereals in food and what it can do to them.
Further reading sounded like that cereals will in a couple years will be cereal free, so why put them in if so apparently bad.

It's all about cost. Filling pet food with carbohydrate is cheaper than filling it with meat.

Most dogs can handle the wheat and cause no problems whatsoever.

Premium dog food exists but most people dont want to buy it.

True is that, I should of realized.

Most of us ( me included) who have "some" dogs feed a reasonable priced dogfood. Sometimes a dog isn't good on it. A friend has an answer for this : A dog isn't a chicken.
A lot of thruth in it.

I used to feed my working Springers Vitalin, probably one of the cheapest dog foods available, and never had a problem. Now I have a pet dog, a Springadore, I feed it on Pets at Home's own brand of dry with a quarter tin of pedigree chum each day at night with a handful of the dry in the morning. Along with it's breakfast I give it a '1 a day' cod liver oil tablet, she sits watching me take my morning dose so I gave her one once and now she looks forward to it each day. I often get complimentary comments on the condition of her coat and she has plenty of energy so I must be feeding her correctly or my wife would soon let me know - it's her dog !!

If you new what went into making dog food you would not buy it for your dog.
We have a poultry cutting plant and sell more and more chicken carcasses for dog food.
everyone comes back and says how good their dog looks.
The Dogs stools are calcified (white) which is the bone content in the food.
They put on muscle and are solidly built.
if you think about it it's what a dog would eat in the wild (raw meat)

Just put my dog back on fish for dogs working dog salmon, tried a few foods over the last 6 months given them all a good bag full and changed over slowly by blending.
His bowels have been all over the place, put him back ffd no slow switching due to my balls up and hey presto 2days bowels back to normal and now his coat is back shining as it was before.
Note to self not broken don't fix it, think this is the same issue you have been having lack of tolerance to wheat products.
Ordered on line as this is the only way to get working dog salmon with discount and free deliver works out at around £43 for a 15 Kg sack.
Dog is a GSP as per avatar.
