I'm contemplating an Echo. £200+ cheaper than a sthil for the same power. I have a stihl but it has cost more than the original purchase price in repairs and it wasn't a cheap one either.Got fed up with Husky & Stihl, switched to Echo about 4 years ago. Still very happy with them.
I’ve a couple of mk2’s and in all honesty I think they are junk , I’ve had half dozen mk1’s and they seem trouble free in comparison , there is a weak spot on the mk2 crankcase that seems to snap off frequently, I’m told it makes no difference but I’m convinced it upsets the auto tune and makes them extremely temperamental.I miss my old husky 346xp, packed up after 12 years of use. Brought a replacement in the 550xp mk1 a few years back. Its a terrible starter but once its warmed up it reasonably ok.
A mate of mine brought a new XP550 mk2 last week. Completely different performance compared to mine.View attachment 404520

I won’t buy another !
I’ve no loyalty to any brand really stihl , echo , husky and makita(dolmar) all make good saws.. it’s all in how you keep them sharp and maintain them
As others have said sthil good machines my wood burner runs 24 hrs a day cut everything with ms 210Morning guys! I’m looking to replace my chainsaw, I bought a 50cm/cc titan in the spring (and all safety gear thanks to advice on here) and it’s huge and super heavy and to be honest, a bit rubbish, it ‘died’ at the weekend to a point whereby I’ve decided to retire it and get something better.
I’d appreciate suggestions for a saw for general shoot tidy up, unlikely to be bringing down anything bigger than 12” wide, and have been looking at Husqvarna 120, 130, 135 etc as some good Black Friday offers in 130 but could consider anything else
Although I like the electric idea they are too expensive, I’m looking to get away with £250 or less
I’ve replaced all my 5 series bar the 550’s with stihls but stihl just don’t seem to have got a 50cc saw right , I never liked the 261, only other husky I use is an old 395.U pay ur money and take ur chance.
But ive never heard anything positive about those cheap 1 series saws.
Pure chibeasium with a husky sticker on it.
Personally id chose almost any saw over that.
As i said earlier the stihl 170s and 180s are amazing good saws for money.
Local fencers abuse the hell out off them and they run for years.
Exactly my thoughts.
I have a 3 yr old mk2 , spent most off its 2nd year not being fixed under warranty.
Then once warrantys up tell me its the crank seals after all ( which i told them from day 1)
250+ quid for parts.
Still using a mk1 550 and 560 pretty often for work
( prob put 10-15Ls throu them a week).
Do ok still dont trust them, they hate hot weather, over 25C and a lottery if they start.
Ill never buy another 5 series husky again.
For pro use stihl is the way forward, ( unless u go old skool 3 series) for hobby use heaps off decent brands to choose from
I wanted a Husky 372 but no joy, so for a gamble I bought a Chinese 372 xp copy, £250 I thought well give it a go , and I was amazed
starts 2nd pull , runs a treat, and cuts very well , doesn't rev as high as my mates 372 but works a treat.
I found a couple of 372's at around the 600 ish mark and 10/15 years old , so £ 250 was a no brainerBe too late for u now.
But i think its Logs and saws is the company that sells/imports 'brand new'
372s into uk.
I know pro forestry cutters using them daily.
I think its the proper old pre xtorq version, they really were bomb proof
Saying that a bit more expensive than wot u paid.
