Just bought a replacement pair of le chameau neoprene wellies, had 4 pairs before and they have lasted very well considering I wore them almost every day of the year until they fell apart. Normally they are comfortable to wear all day straight out of the box but this last pair just rub my heels, I'm thinking I will take them back as they are of no bl**dy use to me.

Having checked the way they were made against a) my wife's 5 yr old pair and b) my old pair there is a difference in the way the heel is put together. Previously the Neoprene went all the way down the back of the ankle to the sole, now they have fitted some sort of heel section made from a different harder material and it is this that is rubbing, I cannot imagine my socks lasting long and the blisters won't be far behind.

So if you are thinking of buying a pair just check this out, maybe that's why they threw in a 2 pack of welly socks.....

Have to agree - had a pair of the leather lined ones which were eye-wateringly expensive in 1997! But, they lasted (given that the soles were getting dangerously worn!) till this year when they finally leaked. Looked at the new ones and they are just not the same quality as the older ones, and also not the same comfortable fit. Still painfully priced at £340 though..... I think there are far better alternatives for that sort of money.

That is what I understand. They were getting some stuff made there in Africa and a UK? outfit bought the business and went for the cheap lo cost land (quality ehhh?)

Le Chameau no longer fit for purpose . I have had them in the past first pair lasted over 10 years. second pair bought 2 years ago leeking after a year. Got some Aigles now and very happy quality is top notch.
I wont buy Le Chameau ever again.
