Chelsea boot recommendations

I have Hoggs Veldschoen ones, which are a good fit for my wide hooves. They might fail the OP's not-to-hefty requirement, though.

These are a pair of my boots, I couldn't get the colour I wanted so I asked Richard at the Shoe Room if he could dye a pair of Trickers Henry for me which he did and they turned out stunning, I have other Trickers so I knew my size and could complete the order online, I also have no ties with the company but he has helped me out over the years with various shoes and boots.

Don't bin those 'tired' shoes. Had these since 1982 and haven't really looked after them so thought I'd have a go at rejuvenating them.

First step was to get all the wax and dirt off so I soaked then in warm water & washing liquid and scrubed them. Allowed to dry but not before inserting shoes trees to ensure correct shape. Once I'd given them a good rub with thinners I carefully dyed them, treated with a special neatsfoot oil based cordovan cream and polished. Six applications of the cream got them to the point of last picture.

Lastly I cut some leather laces with a strap cutter and...

Never said it was rocket science or hard but he has all the gear and I don’t, If these were 30yr old boots and I had the gear I would gladly give it a go but they weren’t and I don’t have the gear so I left it to the experts.
He has also carried out work on other boots I have so I had confidence in him sorting this for me and he done it free I just paid for the boots

I have a pair. Nice thick leather. Made in the UK. I'm not sure I'd pay £250 for them which is what they are now - they were £180 last year when I bought them, I think.

You are extremely lucky. They sold out before I found a pair.
They are made for Hoggs by Cheaney, in Nottingham, and are incredibly high quality boots. If they had Cheaney on them instead of Hoggs they would be around £600

I got married up the road from Lanx and popped in around the start of last year, great setup, I’m not sure if they had just opened their place near clitheroe at the time and I didn’t see any Chelsea boots they had in but I’ll also take a look at those

Super job. Have a similar pair long wing burgundy. Ive dyed many pairs of shoes and boots now and impressed with this. Hes done it once or twice. Note hes using an old soft makeup brush.

For smart Chelsea boots try Dubarry

Wouldnt recommend Trickers for Chelsea boots, hard to look past RM Williams tbh.
