Someone will feel like they've struck gold! What an offer! I've been after one for ages, but they're like unicorn teeth up here. And if you do find one they're stupid money

I bought a second hand double door chiller off ebay. I put in a bid of £20 as it was collection only which puts a lot of people off. I was highest bidder so arranged to get it collected by a courier for £60. The chiller was selling for about £1400 new. It would have only cost £80 delivered except when the courier was reversing in to my gate way he reversed into the gate post. 🙄
He agreed not to charge for delivery if I repaired the post.

With regards to buying second hand and reliability. How much are you prepared to spend not to lose a carcase or two at today's carcase prices. For a casual stalker I don't think that it is worth buying new for that reason. Not worth spending several hundred pounds to reduce the likelihood of losing a carcase. My chiller has been fine for a few years. Temperature is monitored using a digital thermometer which I have sat in it.

I went down the catering chiller route as a drinks fridge wouldn’t keep cool enough in my garage, where it would be kept, as it gets petty hot in there during the summer. Saved a search on eBay and ended up with a Polar one for £200 and then had a courier pick up and deliver for £80. Does the job very well.

I bought a used chiller and it played up. I messed about with it and the wife said just buy a new one.
I bought a landig with all the options. Honestly I don't know how we would managed with out it now. It's really easy to keep spotless and clean. Maybe has 20 deer a year in tops. If I'm lucky. At the moment it has all our holiday beer and food in ready to go in the caravan fridge.
At Christmas it's full of that too. It's really efficient and hardly runs while I'm in the garage. You can turn the fan on and off too.
It's a pleasure to use as the old one took 3 deer from me. Only played up with something in it. Even the fridge man couldn't work it out.
Landig is expensive but 3 yrs of use for more than just deer is making it value for money

Does anyone know what the ambient operating temperature range is for the landig? I cannot find out online anywhere.

if not, does anyone run theirs in an outbuilding that is cold in the winter and hot in the summer?

Has anyone considered one of the chiller/freezer units off the back of a tesco delivery van. Two chilled one frozen and run off standby mains. The height could be an issue I suppose

The Game fridge has no heating feature. The highest adjustable interior temperature of +16°C cannot be achieved if the ambient temperature is +10°C.

Hi,

Thanks for this. I was actually after the working ambient temperature that the larder will be located in though.

Not all chillers are suited to being placed in a cold environment such as an outbuilding etc.

does anyone know?

I had mine running at 2’ and during a particularly cold winter night my insulated larder dropped to 3’, no obvious issues.

Summer temp probably about 13’ in the larder with chiller running at 2’

Thank you. Much appreciated

Mine is in the garage. So it's quite a steady temperature. In winter I have a heater on if I an in there. In summer it's cooler than outside but never super cool.
If you speak to cool game they were very helpful and knowledgeable. They are based on a liebherr refrigerator so I was told. So I know they will be a quality item (I used to work for them).
If you ask cool game and give them your temps for ambient they will tell you.
The whole back wall of the chiller is cold. Not like normal style where the evaporator is on the top and air blows through it. You can turn the fan off to stop.the meat drying to much and it only circulates as the temps drop.
Then the outside rear is like a traditional fridge and the condenser is on that. Motor etc is at the bottom. So this is in cooler air by my thinking.
Cleaning is so easy as it's all plastic wipe clean and has a drip line to drop blood in a catch tray.
Also has a drain in the bottom to wash out if needed. No horrible corners to try and clean out. They are all rounded and made to be easy clean. The loading rail is a god send if things are heavy and you are on your own.
Accessories are a lot cheaper direct from landig. I wanted something not stocked by cool game so they would let me order. Otherwise they pushed me to uk supply. Sausage hanging rack was my ticket to success.

That’s great. Really appreciate the useful feedback.

Mine would be kept in a wooden outbuilding. It will be insulated all round though so not as cold as your average shed in winter and not as hot in summer either. Not as good as a concrete building though.

I will take your advice and give coolgame a call and see what they say.

Thanks again

Your other option is speak to landig direct. Mr landig himself replied to me. Really helpful too.

Now that’s a good shout. Does he have his own email address or does he respond via one of their standard ones advertised on their website?

I emailed the generic one. But his email address was Christian.landig@landig.com
As I say cool game are really good as well. When spending that amount of money I think they should be good. Cool game was the guy who convinced (answered questions) that they were right for me.
