Chillers or drinks fridge?

I found the chap at Coolgame rather patronising and full of himself. I ordered one on the basis of hanging reds in it - had a whole conversation about my intended use. Night before it was due to be shipped he told me it wasn't high enough to hang a red and I needed the bigger model (for another £1500 or something). Fair enough, he refunded deposit and I ended up with a couple of hanging hooks he'd sent in advance of the chiller arriving but wasn't a great experience. I went down the small modular walk-in chiller and saved about a grand over coolgame option.

I was planning on setting up a proper chiller shortly, but have unexpectedly got an opportunity on fallow bucks come 1st Aug but I will need to hang the carcass myself. I won’t have a proper set-up sorted by then, so was wondering about temporary alternatives and have a tall larder freezer spare…. Internal dim. 42x49x145cm!
Can someone advise the minimum internal dimensions required to hang a fallow buck (more likely to be a yearling/pricket)? I would create a frame to hang it from?
Secondly, I remember a thread where someone used a freezer with the power on a timer to effectively make it a fridge….presumably just need to experiment with power on/off ratios and monitor the temp!
Any experience or advice welcome for a very temporary solution.

thanks

Phone your local catering supplies company. The ones that put in kitchens. Chances are they will have a second hand chiller. Cut above the cobbled together stuff

If you are buying a drinks chiller watech you don’t buy one that’s to new,I did and it wouldn’t keep the meat cool,I found out it has a energy saver in it and goes off at night when the shop is empty and comes back on when someone walks past it,atb w
