Choices, choices, choices

Just been granted permission to have a .308
Been using a .243 for years but asked if I could have a .308 as well, partly to give me more options, especially with lead free ammo, but also to do some match shooting with the club. Been looking at Bergara HMR as on a budget as a potential choice for a rifle that will cover all stalking requirements and can be taken to the range for the day. Anyone else done this or got a recommendation for something that will do a bit of both without needing a lottery win?
Gonna keep the .243 for long foxing, roe & munties etc but looking forward to adding a new toy to the cabinet and going on new adventures with it.

Bergara HMR or wilderness terrain. Alternatively, for not a great deal more money, speak eith @BE Precision as he's had some cracking offers on here recently and might have something that ticks the box

How bias do you want it for stalking vs target ?

Do you want a light stalker that will manage a few range shots before needing to cool down ? Or a heavy range gun that will be a bit of a lump to drag around ?

Lithgow crossover rifle always looks nice. And I would imagine many semi varmint or varmint profiled guns would offer similar options ?

I'm not interested in range use- but I would imagine a semi varmint T3 in a light synthetic stock would be a good stalker- and if you had a second aftermarket heavy stock and fitted a monster mod and scope it would work as a range gun pretty well too....?
