I'd consider the medal fee a donation too the organization behind, it I care very much about the record roe deer and the preservation of trophies If it wasn't for a hunting org like CIC most roe deer would be tossed into the hedge and basically no replica copies would exist of the most impressive bucks.
I dont doubt there's been some "world" records tossed into the bushes over the years even with them present as an org.
Measuring trophies also gives data about different districts and dud and plentiful years, there's more behind it than "the trophy" there's data there that can be used even by likeminded individuals like us.
