Cleaning a DPT Mod?

I recently bought a DPT over barrel mod for my .308 and used it to zero on Friday. When I bought it from the shop I must have mislaid the instructions and so I was wandering how often and how should I clean it?

Are there any products I should avoid to preserve the o-rings (I assume they are viton)?

Thanks in advance,

Gary

Brief summary: Remove Moderator after shooting. Spray WD40 from both ends. Store so that air can flow through it. Putting it away wet will result in a white powdery build-up on baffles, wipe it off. When dry, spray a little oil into it. Unscrew all modules at least once every 50 shot to avoid them seizing. Grease the 'o' rings and threads with Lithium grease before re-assembly. Front module and end cap are loctited, so won't unscrew. Brush through ports. Clean with WD40. Use no harsh chemicals. Pitting will appear on first baffle, but don't worry about it. It should last for 2000 rounds. Mod will get too hot with more than 60 rounds per hour through it, 30 if covered, 90 rounds per hour if stainless blast baffle is installed. Carbon build-up on baffles will protect them.
Do not over-tighten the threads.
If baffles won't unscrew, due to carbon build-up. protect them with leather or cardboard and attach hose/jubilee clips to give something to grip.
Over-barrel models can have 10 baffles.

Cheers for the write up

I simply take apart and wipe down with an oily Ballistol rag after every use - then with a clean rag to remove excess till it looks dry.

Gets put away with the baffles loose.

Simples.

Watch out - some of the baffle edges can be sharp.

I just purchased a S/H DPT mod and the previous owner couldn’t take it apart. I will get some leather and will give it a try 👍
There are clamps available for taking them apart, but the MKII is a different diameter to the MKI.

A lot of people dont know wd40 is water based, enough said, theres better stuff out there, and what edinborough rifles said.

Above is the DPT cleaning destructions. I’ve had mine 3or 4 year and never been cleaned but is removed after each outing. I agree with Edinburgh rifles.

Build up of moisture can result in holes appearing and then a burst.
Got the T-shirt!
Store the mod so that it can drain.

I thought that was with the older style mods like the T8 , had a T8 on my 243 and the arse fell out of it , think it was a T4 on my 223 and it holed to .

I thought I had a picture of my DPT over-barrel moderator body that finally burst, but I can't find it. It was down to not storing it upright so that it drained, so I was told.
