Cocker spaniel tiring out

After my dog flaking out as the reason for this thread i have only used her for mornings.
She seems fine doing this and one thing for sure is that I'm not going to make her suffer. She is a pet first a gundog second.
if I notice her struggling she will be put on a lead and taken home.

Hi all I have a 8 year old Cocker bitch and now and again she has flaked out when I'm out rough shooting.
I carried her back to the car yesterday got her home and cleaned her up and she was fine. Today she is full of beans.
I wondered what you guys give to your dog's during the day to help them. She won't normally eat anything when I'm out with her.
She was only out just over 2 hours.

My cockers would be exactly the same if not given a snack during the day, the trouble with the hardworking breed is they shut down without any warning. Mine don't/won't eat in the morning on a shoot day, and they are out pretty regularly (3/4 times a week picking up) because I have a few dogs I've no problem with them snacking due to food competition, (only takes one to have a nibble and they are all wanting something). I just give them some gravy bones mid morning and again at lunch. Also I give them a slightly heavier feed the previous night.

Dan put a knob of lard on the dogs grub .. it will help with energy levels and also any dehydration .
i wouldn't be upping carbs or sugar ..
