Cold bore first shot accuracy

Seconded, my 6.5 will shoot about an inch and a half high and right on a clean barrel, second shot moves half the distance back , and the third will be back on zero. (100 m)
Its not cold barrel , if I dont clean it , it holds zero first shot.

Obviously it needs cleaning ! But I tend to only do it if its going to sit for longer than a week (rare) or it gets wet.

Ok, again. I’ve put two targets up. One un-cleaned. The other cleaned. The cleaned one also has “not cleaned” shots on it. The problem is still there.

I wasn’t being unkind/flippant when suggesting you trade it in for something that will provide the level of consistency required. Confidence in one’s kit is everything and sometimes a rifle comes along that won’t come good no matter what you do to it

Had an issue with a 204 i had, bloody thing would never group under 3" no matter what I put through it, on it, behind it. Checked everything mod on mod off, torqued bolts and checked torque etc

Never did figure it out and the rifle went back, as said before - adjust 1 thing at a time to isolate the issue...I hope you find out why mate

It could be the barrel. I had a rifle that would always shoot the first round 1 inch low with a cold barrel.
It ****ed me off so I rebarreled it and that cured it.

I know, I agree. Confidence is key. I’ll try getting out tomorrow with it. If not it’ll have to wait until Sunday.

If it still does it then I’ll have to buy some more lead bullets and test with them. See if something has changed.

Ok so out today, in the wind! It was gusty where I was shooting and I couldn’t move to have the wind head on or directly behind. I shot the two top right in a particularly high wind, with the 3-5 shots in slightly less wind which may account for some difference.

Fairly happy, I’ll confirm in light winds before taking it out. I’d like to get it running a bit faster than 2660 but it will likely be fine.

I can only put it down to needing 5 rounds through to foul the barrel up a bit.
