I know, but hopefully as it wasn't thought of here some people will find it more difficult to rubbish the findings.

I mind being out in the wilds of Oz 20 odd years ago and local fire crews were moaning not enough burning going on in there forests to prevent major wild fires, and look wot has happened since.

Plenty of really good scientific evidence for controlled burning out there just doesnt fit the media's agenda so will blame climate change instead

Backfiring to create fire breaks is well known as beneficial and wildlife can escape, damage is reduced homes protected etc.
Same with Moorland except for the homes argument !
John G will have some fairly strong views about true wildfires and the knowledge that either through budget cuts or wokism, regular burns havent been done and the level of devastation and wildlife loss rises accordingly.
Still, if you have 2 arguments you can always quote either climate change of wildlife preservation eh Cwis ?
