Copper and blood trails

I'm finding same with 130 grain TSX in 270 with chest shots and the deer a running further IMO. The 130 grain Gamekings killed them more efficiently and left better blood trails. Like you said good experience for the dogs and a cleaner carcass with copper.
Drop the weight ! Up the velocity! TTSX 100 grain from the 260 rem 3200 fps is the most effective kill pill i have ever used . Factory ammo is often slower than the box says in general in my experience . I have only had one stag run a significant distance ( 70 yards downhill) and the issue was placement , i miss read a channeling wind between two peaks !. 270 should wreck em with a lighter , faster TTSX, forget what the lead weight is for the cartridge

I’ve been on copper for 4 years now. 6.55x55 and now 6.5 CM. Mainly Sako Powerhead 2 and Blade. Very seldom have a runner. Vast majority of the deer drop immediately. I target the vital triangle as per Selous’ pic.

Copper are not as good as lead in my opinion, don't get the same reaction, longer runs, not much of a blood trail most of the time, none of which are ideal.
They are certainly accurate but just lacking the performance I'd say.
please do try different stuff light for caliber , driven fast! I have been killing big stags real well Barnes TTSX 100 grain 3200 fps

Move your point of aim forwards a tiny bit. Stay within the vital triangle as named by Kevin Robertson in the Perfect Shot rather than doing the traditional double lung shot Which is just behind the vertical line and risks splitting the rumen.
Great picture thanks

Winchester extreme very accurate in 85gr .243 but straight through and zingers.
S&B 150gr blues in 7x57, I might possibly hit the deer somewhere if I'm lucky.

I’ve had no problems with 120gr copper on big stags up here in Perthshire. 100gr good but 120 better for me.
Shot stags with them also , worked ok . Just had one ( the last of a group of three) that wandered about a good bit after a good run . Mainly being the third hit i suspect though . The 100 grain i have shot a lot with now Stags, hinds, Roe, CWD, muntjac , without a shaddow of doubt the best deer bullet i have shot in 20 years . I do drive them fast though 3200 fps i would need to check but i think i was shooting the 120 grain TTSX 2900 fps? Not a bad round at all , indeed i recently added some 120s to the ammo store as 100 grain are tough to get hold of ( though i must have 600 or more ) . I like the tiny little push back from the 100 grain at high speed , i get to visually spot every shot !

You talk some crap!
Before this gets silly, there are plenty other threads where people can moan about the demise of lead, a gentle reminder that the original post was about the use of non-toxic and asking about peoples experience with different brands of copper. I can’t use lead on the majority on my permissions so it a done deal for me, and I‘m not sure I’d want to anyway.
I’ve grateful for the feed back about yew tree- unfortunately I don’t home load, fast and light and shot placement.

I have at least 5 more years on you, used nothing but copper, works just fine!
I didn't realise it was a competition 😂 I've 25 years of shooting deer, maybe I don't like change or maybe too used to lead but I'm not the only one finding fault with it, shooting further out (not mad distances) it doesn't perform that great either.
I'll add that it doesn't worry me enough to stop using copper but I certainly consider some shots alot more now than before.

Cooper bullets are not what lead is, they have certainly advanced since I first used them 10 years ago but there's still room for improvement
Exact the same can be said of lead , proven by the likes of the nosler Partition against a basic cup and core . For deer i really dont want to use lead on deer now

Lee apart from the obvious. I find no difference using my 6.5x55 with TTSX or LRX than when i used my .25-06 with lead and you know the numbers that felled 🤭👍 also mate I've been dealing with the same rubbish for 30+ years Steel doesn't kill Geese Duck I'd love to have videod the Geese i shot this morning with my 20ga 1oz Steel 2's 😳
Keep knocking em down mate 👍.
OP 6.5x55 Barnes TTSX 120gr or LRX 127gr job done blood trail no difference to what i used to use 25-06 Nosler partition 120gr less meat damage if they run shorter than lead . Range ???? Shoot them just the same as with lead 50 yrd to 350yrd 👍
