Covid-19

Anyone taking other precautions ? Anti viral masks when one needs to go shopping for example ?
I have heard UCL is likely to have a viable anti covid injection (immunisation) available in 2 weeks but only so far tested on mice - given the devastation this virus could cause to the 'aged', both now and in the future, and the overwhelming economic effects - I'd be tempted to offer myself as a guinea pig (pardon the apparent pun).

As an afterthought and as part of a conspiracy joke, China is now getting back to normal very few new cases. Since they are well ahead of most countries on genetics, I wonder if they have developed a vaccine (hospital for 1000 in 14 days) ?
Would consolidate and considerably extend the economic power and value of the currency of one of the worlds biggest economies ?
Nahhhhhhh.

Me too.
Ken.

the British government is acting as in the Middle Ages; Boris Johnson predicted that a lot of people will die....
We know we all be affected. But the longer the peak, the better you can use your hospital facilities...

I see Trump is waiving a bunch of regulation for FDA testing of a vaccine. He said he inherited it from previous administration but he's moving forward to make things happen fast. I'm sure he won't be short of volunteers for a vaccine.

Imagine that, with all the rules and regulations and just like that it goes out the window when we have a real global emergency.

Orange Man Good.

I could've missed it but have the medical experts stated that it can only be caught once and after that you're immune?
On sky news this morning a virologist was asked this and his reply was that that's one of the questions they're trying to find an answer to....

The short answer is that it's reasonable to expect to have immunity at least for a period after. They don't yet understand how long for or how effective the immunity will be - for the obvious reason.

Also probably depends on how quickly the virus is mutating to overcome the acquired immunity.
Either way, the best position to be in right now would be to have had the disease and recovered without complications.

Chinese built a hospital almost overnight. How fast could one be built in any European country assuming a 5 year EPA approval time was waived?

People are getting it a second time only weeks after they were first infected

Brits could build one overnight, but there'd be no time in the schedules to lean on spades, scratch your arse or have a brew and a dunk.
Speed is not everything.

Once the numbers of infected or presumed infected reach a certain level, testing will be phased out as per scientific modelling. There will be a certain number of definite (proven) cases and a number of estimated (unproven cases). Believe me, the chances of getting potentially 40 million people tested is not going to happen. All the Four Nations medical and scientific staff will be having daily or hourly discussions to decided the best approach to lessening the impact of covid-19. As VSS stated above, this, like every other virus can and will mutate, but you will get a degree of resistance if you've had the present form already. Hopefully a vaccination will be available in the future, but as ever they all have to go through thorough testing before release into the general population.

Now South Africa has closed borders. SA Airlines in deep doo doo so refusing to refund flights, asking passengers to turn up at airport to lodge a claim on the day of flight.

I've seen no reputable source for such a claim, though plenty of spurious ones, including about the Brit couple on the cruise ship (who had it ONCE & are now home).

While scientists are clear on how the disease is transmitted, questions about COVID-19 continue to rise as cases increase, including a growing fear that you could catch the disease more than once.

Concerns about the possibility of becoming infected twice have risen largely from an incident in Japan, where government officials reported that a woman had reportedly caught the virus a second time.

All I've seen so far is virologists saying, yes there are minor mutations, just like any other virus BUT they're so minute as to be of no concern regarding vaccines or immunity.

Well getting an hour early to the bulk buy costsco today i watched various dhoving matches with the recently arrived immigrants of south east asian extraction. I stood atop of a taking photos of this social phenomenon of waves and waves of immigrants of south east asian extraction arrive in BMWs and facemasks and run to the bog rolls.

The countless toots of horns from the BMWs as they fight over the last parking spot and don't care if they block 50 people trying to get out.

Here is a typical scene but loading up an xtrail. When the socialists talk about the good of the community they are really talking baloney. When the going gets just a little bit tough lord of the flies kicks in.

I haven't lost my faith in humanity there just isn't enough of it to go around.

Buried in the news recently, in Iran ... " “many” of the people who have died from the virus were otherwise healthy, which strays from other statements from local officials who say the disease only impacts those who are older and/or sick. About 55 percent of the people who died were in their 60s, while 15 percent were younger than 40. "

Here : Iran warns of overwhelmed health facilities

Easy or too easy? to dismiss as propaganda, and as yet uncorroborated.

In the meantime panic buying continues all over the world.

On the one hand the economy is crashing on the otherhand consumer products cant keep up.

If you want to become poor feed the rich. If you want to become rich feed the poor.
