Crimping - different dies for different results?

Tried crimping for the first time when trying to get a load working for a 17 hornet. I did not see any advantage so went back to loads without.

6.5x54MS which of course was banned for use stalking because of input from idiots at the BDS and a then obsession with high velocity cartridges.

Hmm not completely banned in Scotland though... it's possible to reach Scottish MV & ME with 130/140gn bullets and it's still legal in England.
Though I firmly believe restricting it was a stupid decision. The 160gn RN puts reds down with authority without significant meat damage..

I used to crimp 30-30’s used in my marlin (pretty heavy recoil) as they were sliding inward into the cartridge case...other than that I’ve never bothered and don’t really see the point.

regards,
Gixer
